Auckland has secured 24th place in the QS Best Student Cities ranking of 150 top study destinations worldwide, maintaining its position year-on-year with an overall score of 84. Based on student feedback, affordability, livability, employment, and diversity, the QS ranking saw New Zealand's largest city finish ahead of Brisbane, Manchester and San Francisco.

Auckland is renowned for its multicultural diversity and various activities, such as climbing, jet-skiing, diving, snowboarding, sailing, canyoning, and surfing, making it an excellent choice for students who enjoy staying active. The city's vibrant cultural scene includes classical music and the annual Pasifika Festival, reflecting the presence of over 200 cultural groups. Within an hour of the city centre, one can engage in sailing, horse riding, hiking, surfing, paddle boarding, and mountain biking.

Hundreds of international students choose Auckland institutions such as the University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology each year.

The QS Best Student Cities index evaluates cities with a population of at least 250,000 and two universities ranking in the QS World University Rankings. It surveys prospective and former students and is based on affordability, quality of life, university standards, and diversity.
